JApan Network Operators’ Group (JANOG) is the North American Network Operators Group (NANOG) equivalence in Japan. Established in 1997, JANOG is an operational forum for the coordination and dissemination of technical information related to backbone networking technologies and operational practices. JANOG meetings are held three times each year, and include presentations, tutorials, and the solution showroom. There are approximately 300 participants in each meeting, and conference participants typically include senior engineering staff from key operators in Japan. JANOG meetings provide a forum for the exchange of technical information and promote discussion of implementation issues that require community cooperation.
