Gamania Deploys GenieNRM's GenieATM to Better Visualize and Manage Its Networks

(Taipei — July 16th, 2008)
GenieNRM today announced that Gamania Digital Entertainment, Asia's largest online gaming platform provider, has selected the GenieATM Solution to better visualize its service network traffic, as well as in-depth traffic analysis for business analysis, network planning and network security.

Owning the largest on-line gaming service data center in Asia and using the server hosting services provided by a 3rd-party ISP in two different locations in Taiwan, Gamania network management team faces a range of traffic management challenges, in which traditional network management systems fall short to address. With the large scale gaming services and fast increasing customer number, Gamania was looking for a novel traffic management solution which delivers capability of traffic visibility for business analysis, capacity planning, anomaly detection and troubleshooting. Being a leading online gaming service provider, Gamania desires to conduct business analysis basing on the real network traffics. For example, they like to know for different groups of game servers, from which ISP or area come their major users. For capacity planning, the Gamania network management wants to ensure the network continues running optimally and to outline when additional capacity has to be added by finding and predicting points of network congestion. For protecting the service network availability, Gamania network management team wants to be alerted timely when traffic anomaly behaviors happening in their network and likes to see a proactive system which can automatically detect network-wide DDoS attacks.

In response, Gamania selected GenieATM traffic analysis and security protection solution for its unmatched performance and capability of delivering advanced traffic analysis fulfilling Gamania's operation and security applications. The GenieATM system delivers in-depth traffic analysis with its built-in network models and powerful Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) engine for anomaly detection, and it allows Gamania to conduct various network O&M-wise and business-wise analyses. The application examples include using GenieATM to analyze from which ASN (from which ISP or Area) their major visitors of different groups of game servers come, to monitor the numbers of flows or connecting sessions of server groups and to alarm when a number gets abnormally high, and to detect DDoS attacks to Gamania's game servers around the whole network. Using the GenieATM solution helps Gamania reduce overall operation expenditures and minimize capital expenditures.

"Traditional network management solutions do not provide service providers real-time and detailed traffic information to perform practical traffic analysis for business and operation management," said Po-wen Tseng, Senior Director of Product Marketing, GenieNRM, "this deal clearly demonstrates the power of GenieATM's functions for providing IDC (Internet Data Center) and CDN (Content Delivery Network) customers to align their technology and business practices to reduce costs and take advantage of emerging market opportunities."
