| China Network Communications
Corporation (hereafter referred as CNC) has commenced the
IP backbone network anomaly traffic detection project since
December 2005. The project implements one anomaly traffic
detection system each for CHINA169 backbone network and CNCnet
backbone network. The project aims to build a domestic network
security management system for the national-wide backbone
networks, and to enable automatic traffic monitoring, traffic
path analysis, security management and anomaly traffic detection
capabilities. GenieNRM’s GenieATM plays a critical role
in the project.
Embedded with both the Signature-based detection and Anomaly-based
detection engines, GenieATM can identify network anomalous
scenarios due to various problems such as DoS/DDoS attacks,
worm/virus attacks, or network mis-configurations. Precisely
and timely, GenieATM automatically notifies the network O&M
personnel the diagnoses of the problems so that they can respond
to the problems immediately and correctly. By confining the
anomaly threats to the minimal damage quickly, CNC can ensure
the smooth operations of the backbone networks, deliver 24x7
network service availability, increase service qualities to
its subscribers, as well as realize a network-wide, carrier-grade
network security protection.
