| GenieNRM announced today GenieATM’s selection by China Mobile Shanghai, a city-level subsidiary company of China Mobile, for GenieATM’s superior network-wide traffic monitoring, service analysis and anomaly detection capabilities to improve the network traffic and security management of China Mobile Shanghai.
China Mobile Shanghai runs two networks to provide its network services: its carrier networks and the CMNET. The CMNET covers the whole Shanghai area and offers enterprise customers broadband and leased-line Internet services through their mobile accesses. In order to provide better network service availability and quality to its subscribers, China Mobile Shanghai decided to leverage a system to help them analyze the traffic patterns, including the revenue-generating service traffics and the anomalous cyber attack traffics. While defining its needs, China Mobile Shanghai also highlighted their requirement for smooth solution scale feasibility as the network size scales up to well protect their solution deployment investment.
After a thorough search for network traffic analysis and anomaly detection solutions, China Mobile Shanghai decided to fulfill its needs using the GenieATM solution. China Mobile Shanghai deployed one GenieATM Controller and two GenieATM Collectors in its CMNET to collect traffic flow data from the routers in the networks. GenieATM provides real-time, network-wide anomaly detection and reporting of routing and traffic patterns across the entire network. Enabling China Mobile network managers to interpret and visualize traffics on the network, quickly determine the root cause of changes in traffic, which may be the result of security attacks or fast-growing new application usage, and offer the ability to evaluate peering relationships with partners to optimize transit performance.
