Genie Network Resource Management Inc.(GenieNRM Inc.) today announced that China NetCom (CNC), a leading broadband communications and fixed-line telecommunications operator in China, has decided to expand its existing GenieATM solution for exercising better network traffic analysis and DDoS defense.
China169 and CNCNet are the two major nationwide IP networks run by CNC. In 2005, CNC has built a traffic analysis and anomaly detection solution in its IP backbone networks. The solution supported the network analysis and security requirements at that time being. However, as the network scales expanded and more new network services emerged year by year, the previous built solution’s system capability has lagged behind the continuous growing management and security protection demands of China169 and CNCNet. The CNC network management team then clearly identified their network security need to deploy a security solution which can do timely attacks traffic detection, and accommodate the fast growing bandwidth demands of China169 and CNCNet networks.
After a thorough search for network anomaly threat detection solutions, CNC decided to fulfill its needs by scaling up its existing GenieATM solution. In this solution expanding project, the previous GenieATM systems deployed in 2005 were rearranged and more GenieATM systems were deployed in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai of China169 Network Operation Centers (NOCs). Nine GenieATM Collectors (6169) are deployed to receive Netflow packets from the aggregation routers, backbone routers and boarder routers, and collect BGP messages from BGP route reflector (RR) routers. One GenieATM Controller (6369) is deployed in Beijing acting as the centralized management interface to represent the anomaly detection results, provide security threat alarming and provision GenieATM devices deployed in the network.
With the newly deployed GenieATM Controller and nine GenieATM Collectors, together with the previous deployed two GenieATM 1625 and five GenieATM 2325 systems, CNC network management team now can effectively conduct its network-wide traffic monitoring, from network aggregation layer, domestic Network Access Points (NAPs) to international network exit points of China169 and CNCNet networks. The GenieATM solution also helps CNC identify and locate network anomalies, and mitigate network security threats before they can spread in the networks.
"GenieATM provides superior traffic analysis and security protection capability with unmatched system capacity and scalability,” said Po-wen Tseng, Senior Director of Product Marketing, GenieNRM. "This solution expanding project of CNC validates the fact that GenieATM has always been providing the most satisfying solution quality and reliability to our customers.”
